1. Riad Yasmine, Marrakech
According to the hotel owners, Gabriel and Alice, 80 per cent of their clientele come to stay at Riad Yasmine because they’ve seen snaps of this mini haven on Instagram or Pinterest. Relax against a backdrop of beautiful mosaics among a plethora of plants that take the urban jungle to new heights.
2. Coqui Coqui Merida, Mexico
The colonial architecture of Merida’s decadent past rings strong within the walls of Coqui Coqui. The hotel – also a spa, perfumery, boutique, café and restaurant – guarantees a “out of the ordinary” stay. Still, it is the rooftop suite with its own private pool that makes this place so desirable.
3. Amangiri, Utah
Sinuous sandstone rocks envelopes the Amangiri pool as the hotel architecture blends harmoniously with the surrounding desert. On the pool’s edge, king-size mattresses await you following a refreshing swim. Head to the jacuzzi and roaring fire on cold desert nights.
4. Hotel Villa Honegg, Lucerne
Take in the second-to-none views of the Swiss mountains in any season thanks to Hotel Villa Honegg’s heated outdoor infinity pool. With an underwater sofa built near one of the corners of the pool, you can soak up the wholesome beauty of nature.
5. Bondi Icebergs, Sydney
Our favourite! This dramatic Olympic-sized ocean pool at the southern end of Bondi Beach is home to the winter swimming club, Bondi Icebergs. To become an “iceberg”, you must log 75 swims in the “off season”. Sound easy? With temperatures slightly colder than the ocean, the Aussies call the pool “the band of steel”. On a less chilly note, the pool also opens to the public in the summer season for leisurely dips.
